Was up early to get coach to Heathrow and then fly to Banff for the OE Global conference. I expect you’re feeling quite sorry for me, so in order to ease your anxiety, I’ll say it’s quite pretty here. This is the view from the street my hotel is on.

No thanks
Two huge Vote UKIP signs on a farm near my daughter’s stables. In a sign of the times, I’m pretty sure these were Vote Conservative last time. Sigh.
Red in tooth and claw
A dead mouse (I think) up in the forest.
They watch
After a very hectic few days, I was at home today, but was still busy as I was acting as the external adviser for Bonnie Stewart’s PhD (which was taking place at Prince Edward Island, Canada).
So, didn’t get to leave the house much. While I’ve bene busy with OER15 the lilies I bought last weekend have opened up and are looking like pretty, but malevolent aliens who are watching, waiting to absorb me.
Mini Golf Ryder Cup
As part of my OER15 duties,I was scheduled to look after the keynotes today before they headed back to their various destinations. We could have sat in a room and had a meeting, but instead we carried out our discussions on the mini-golf course down Barry Island. Unfortunately Sheila MacNeill had to depart early so Mark Power stood in. Cable Green and Josie Fraser were the other competitors. I am going to put a suggestion in that more meetings are conducted on mini-golf courses.
Fancy drinks
The OER15 conference closed today, it has been fantastic. Because I was a chair and keynote, I have been very sensible over the past two nights, going to bed early. So tonight I allowed myself a few drinks to celebrate. A bunch of us went to Lab 22 in Cardiff, where we had a cocktail taster menu. This was their version of Long Island Iced Tea complete with liquid nitrogen bursting from a tea pot (don’t drink from the tea pot we were warned). Had a great night.
Moody presenters
Josie Fraser and me on stage at OER15. Photo by an actual good photographer, Mark Power.
Conference venue
The OER15 venue is the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, so this is where I’ll be for the next few days. Checked it out today, it’s a lovely venue.
Sinister castle
I continued my tour guide duties today, taking Brian Lamb up to see the castle. And yes, maybe a pub or two
Messing about down the bay
Brian Lamb from Thomson Rivers University is spending a couple of days with us, prior to the OEr15 conference here in Cardiff. We went down Cardiff Bay, where it was sunny, but a bit blustery. Brian is a big hockey fan, so my daughter wore her Canadian hockey top to make him feel at home.
