The study

I have a pretty bland study – which some might say accounts for the blandness of the material that emerges from it. You can play spot the technology here: a Mac, a PC laptop, a printer, ipad, phone, iPhone, wireless router, plus assorted leads.

Jubilee treets

Yes, I have misspelt treats because these are “limited edition” Jubilee M & Ms. Before M & Ms we used to have similar toffee, chocolate and peanut versions of sweets called Treets. In my memory these were, of course, vastly superior to the American invader.

New shoes

It is an exciting day in the Weller household when a new pair of running shoes arrives. I have foolishly signed up for the Lakeland 50 next July, after prompting from my wife. I have struggled to stay motivated in running this year, so needed a new challenge.
I therefore treated myself to some new trail shoes, these are Sportiva Wildcats. Getting new shoes is an intensive process – you spend hours reviewing them online, and then choose more or less at random. The thing is, even if you try them on, you don’t really know what they’re like till you’ve done a fair bit of distance in them. So we’ll see how these turn out.

Back to school

My daughter started her first day at a new school today (we moved her over the summer), and it was a great success (much to our relief).
Coincidentally, my Open University study pack turned up. For the first time since 1996 I am studying an OU course – the MA in History. So a general back to study and learning theme for the day.

Le Tour

I bought a Tour mug in France, and am drinking a nice dose of EPO here, as suggested by Lance Armstrong (okay, it’s tea). The book is Chris Sidwell’s excellent history of the Tour, A Race for Madmen. If you want an introduction to it, and what it means then I recommend this book.
