Had my birthday recently – my daughter’s present for me arrived today. It is, of course, ice hockey related. A Devils jersey with Tyson Strachan’s number – he’s our unflappable, assured defender.

Guildford trip
We went to Guildford today to see the Devils play – we lost 3-2 in over time.
MK road trip
Started the year with a road trip to Milton Keynes to see the Devils get their 13th straight win. Was an easy 5-0 victory.
Winnings
At each Cardiff Devils game we put £1 each in the purse with a score prediction. We’ve been terrible so the pot now stood at £76. With tonight’s 6-3 win over Milton Keynes, I won it finally.
Coventry away trip
Our annual Christmas trip up to Coventry to see the Devils play today. We won a hard fought game 3-2, after winning on penalties last night. After being woeful last season it’s good to see Coventry competing again.
Devils signing
After an excellent 4 point weekend against the Steelers and Braehead, the devils did their annual autograph session tonight with the whole team.
Pride jerseys
The Devils had a pride night wearing these jerseys. It’s great that they are so positive in supporting lgbt in sports. This was a combination of my daughter’s two favourite things – politics & ice hockey. They auctioned the jerseys off after and she was desperate to get one. I bid on the first one & we got it – apparently they started going for more as the night wore on so my get in quick strategy paid off.
Puck sponsorship
Daughter had a puck sponsorship tonight with Drew Paris. Her coaching tips obviously worked as he had a great game & we beat the Steelers
Richie testimonial
Landed first thing this morning, drove back, got diverted because the M4 was closed, picked up bruno, and cleared emails. Tonight we went to see a testimonial game at the Devils for Mark Richardson who has played with us for 11 seasons.
Then sleep.
A bit of fight
Devils showed some fight tonight against Guildford flames but lost in OT.
