A new cafe has opened up in the village, and also offers bike repair, trying to establish itself as an outdoor centre. The couple who run it are very nice, so I’m trying to support it. They do nice coffee and it’s on a dog walk loop so handy.

Season end
The last league game of the season tonight. If Sheffield lost away to Fife and we won, we’d be champions, but it was never very likely. Predictably we won, and so did they, meaning we finish second. We hit a patch of bad form a few weeks ago, losing five in a row which cost us ultimately. Still, 3rd last year, 2nd this, which means, next year…
The wrong behaviour
Not a pleasant picture but I think it’s an interesting example of how people transfer the wrong behaviour. This is up in the forest, there are no bins and yet people still pick up dog poo in bags, Then, when they can’t find a bin they all dump it by a tree. This is unhelpful in three ways: it’s ugly, it adds plastic to the environment and the poo won’t break down because it’s inside a bag.
Picking your dog poo up in a bag is very good thing to do in the city. And people transfer that good, urban behaviour to a rural setting. Here it is inappropriate, because in a large forest what you should do is flick it to one side with a stick. This is now my metaphor for when people take an existing beneficial behaviour and apply it in a different context where it is not only not useful, but actually harmful. You can probably supply your own educational, historical or political example for when this happens.
A bit of Wales
A very Welsh scene
New walk
Popped Bruno out at lunchtime to some different forest not far from me. Hadn’t realised how lovely it was there, rather like a miniature version of the Beacons.
Behold
I got a new wardrobe for my daughter’s room. It was basically a battle between us, only one could be victorious. There were tears, there were curse words, there was violence. But I emerged the victor. Just don’t open the doors
Tulips to the rescue
Up and down to MK today, so emergency blip of the tulips indoors.
Indoor exercise
Got myself a cheap spin bike to do some exercise indoors. My knees play up if I run too much, and to be honest, I got fed up running in the four months of rain that passes for winter. So I got this to supplement running, was easy to assemble and seems to work pretty well.
Nice stick
Second game against Belfast Giants tonight. Here Joey Martin and Trevor Hendrikx get ready to warm up. We won in overtime, although struggled for much of the game.
We’re in
Finally the Cardiff Devils moved into the new Ice Arena Wales. Tonight was the first game, against Belfast. It is a great venue, I can finally see the scoreboard! after a five game losing streak, we won tonight also.
