Horses
Up by Forest Fawr, quite a lot of horses in one field
Who, us?
On a run today I found these three sheep hiding in an old building. One poked his head out and then ducked in when I came past. They all looked rather guilty when I peaked in, as if I’d caught them bunking off school or something.
Not even biscuits are safe
from ‘Lympic branding. We had some good news re research funding today and Patrina bought all the team biscuits to celebrate.
The Steve Jobs Room
One of the meeting rooms in IT is called the Steve Jobs room – is this normal? Rooms/quadrants/greens/bars used to be named after Nelson Mandela didn’t they? To paraphrase Harry Hill, hmm, I like Steve Jobs but I also like Nelson Mandela. Which one is better? Only one way to find out….
The most depressing thing you’ll see today
An advert for a Katie Price magazine. Not a feature in a magazine, but a full £3.99 magazine. We live in a world where this is a viable proposition. Shakes head
A deadly beauty
I’ve blipped before about my Himalayan Balsam obsession. They’re quite pretty when they come in to flower and the bees love them, but boy are they virulent. Along the Taff there are whole stretches where there is nothing but balsam. If you see it, pull it up!
Gotcha! (kinda)
So this is that bloody heron I’ve tried to get a few times. When I was out on my run today he was sitting right opposite me, quite calmly, posing. Of course he knew I didn’t have my decent camera on me and my iphone capture isn’t great at any distance. So I’m not sure if it’s a victory for me or another taunt from him.
The logo
We have a VW California and today it went in for its annual service (needed 2 new tyres, plus balancing, plus brake fluid = ouch). It is now ready for the annual big european vacation in the summer (to Rome and back).
VW really have a brand to die for, people feel real affection for them. I’m not the type to go to VW rallies or anything, but I do love the attention to detail in the Cali. But if you want to portray surfer cool you only have to sketch an old campervan or a beetle and it’s like a universal language.
Know your rights
I’m a bit of a Clash obsessive. I gave away my vinyl collection a few years back, as it was just getting mouldy and I couldn’t play it. But I do have a slight regret about some of the artwork, particularly for the Sandinista booklet, and here the Combat Rock lyrics.
On another note, the lyrics to Know Your Rights seem more applicable today than they did then. Where are the angry young men writing these songs today?
