We completed the marathon today. I had been a bit complacent about training, often only running twice a week. And surprise, it was tough. We finished in 4hrs 30 mins – my wife was fine and could’ve gone faster – I really struggled. The moral is you can’t skip the training.
Still it was a great route, very well organised, fantastic support and fine weather.

We are in France for the Nice-Cannes marathon on Sunday. Weather is lovely, and I prefer the whole out of season feeling

Bird behind wire
I have stayed on a farm in Milton Keynes for a couple of nights in the camper van. They have a duck pond with rare breed birds. This fella paced the perimeter continually and cooed when you came close. He wants out.
Book launch
I had the launch event for my book at the OU today – this was the audience waving hello.

This is Natalie’s Boston lobster snowglobe thing that I pinched for 10 minutes to do my pic of the day.

Melingriffith Water Pump
Taken while out for a run – I always go past this water pump, which was restored recently: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-13999352 but I never see it in operation. There is a seating area in front but it’s always locked so had to take this photo from behind bars.
There’s quite an interesting history about Melingriffith, a village that has disappeared really and been subsumed.
