Went to the Art Gallery of Ontario this afternoon to see the Guillermo del Toro exhibition – it was amazing. I came here in April & saw Georgia O’Keefe so doing well.

Cellini’s Perseus

I gave my keynote this morning then got some free time later this afternoon. The one thing I really wanted to see was this statue of Perseus by Cellini. His story of the night of its creation is amazing. It’s so visceral – there is an academic paper just about the depiction of blood

Ishtar Gate

Went to the Pergamon museum today (and the German history museum). The Ishtar Gate is truly breathtaking.
All this walking around being a tourist is exhausting though!

I popped out from the conference over lunch to visit the Art Gallery of Ontario. There was an O’Keefe exhibition which was very good & of course lots of Canadian art. This is an Emily Carr painting
